In addition, calcium contributes to normal muscle function, neurotransmission, normal function of digestive enzymes, energy-yielding metabolism and normal blood clotting. Calcium Bone Matrix is derived from grass-fed and sustainably raised cattle. The cattle are raised exclusively on Nordic regenerative pastures. The literature supports the idea that cattle bones are similar to human bones in structure and components; therefore, it makes good sense to consume cattle bones to support the formation of your bones!

Why do we make organic Calcium Bone Matrix?

This product was the natural next step after a successful project with the production of our Nordic and organic collagen powder ( link ). After collagen and hyaluronic acid were extracted, we were left with calcium bone matrix, which contained all the macro- and micronutrients needed to support bone mass. Such a food-based supplement was incredibly interesting, as it has many advantages compared to existing calcium supplements.

Most calcium supplements were made from quarried lime (calcium carbonate) and did not have the necessary trace minerals to effectively support bone growth.

The image below (from right to left) shows how the raw material changes character through our manufacturing process for Calcium Bone Matrix. First, the fresh marrow bones are prepared, then they are exposed to heat, pressure and acid during the extraction of collagen and hyaluronic acid, which softens the bone matrix. The last image is from our rotary dryer where the matrix is dried before being ultra-finely ground and put into capsules.

What makes the product unique?

The specially optimized manufacturing process ensures a content of organic calcium, protein, collagen and essential amino acids in an easily absorbable form, while preserving the trace minerals that are naturally part of the bone matrix.

The specially optimized manufacturing process for Calcium Bone Matrix is part of our production of Bone Broth products. Here we preserve the remaining Calcium Bone Matrix after boiling the Bone Broth, as this residue contains calcium and organic macro- and trace minerals. Calcium Bone Matrix, also called hydroxyapatite, is then carefully dried and reduced to powder via ultra-fine grinding. After grinding, the powder is filled into capsules in our production facilities in Denmark.

The product is a calcium supplement with all the organic macro and trace minerals that are necessary as easily absorbable co-factors to build strong and durable bones. These organic macro and trace minerals include zinc, selenium, copper, magnesium, manganese and boron. This makes the product unique and sets it apart from conventional calcium supplements.

An innovative and sustainable product

The product is by definition an upcycled product, as our company has a very special knowledge of how to utilize a valuable bone matrix raw material that would otherwise go to waste. This makes our sidestream production of Calcium Bone Matrix a product that has a unique environmental and sustainable profile. Our products contain no known allergens or fillers. The capsule shell is the world's first NOP certified organic and vegetable capsule made from pullulan, a vegetable polysaccharide polymer. Pullulan is chemically inert and dissolves completely in the digestive system without causing irritation. The capsules form an oxygen and water barrier during storage, protecting the Bone Matrix powder.

Compared to regular calcium supplements, our product is easily absorbed by the body because the calcium is bound to phosphorus instead of carbonate. This means that the product is more easily broken down and absorbed by the digestive system. Regular calcium supplements based on carbonate come from chalk in the ground and have no natural connection to human bones. You may wonder why most calcium supplements are based on calcium carbonate and not calcium phosphate, and it is simply because calcium carbonate is cheaper to produce.

The packaging is completely compostable and biodegradable. The product is mainly produced with electricity from Nordic biogas plants. Our products do not contain preservatives or additives.

Application:

2-3 capsules per day. Should be taken with a meal. When taking two or three capsules, it is recommended to spread them over two or three meals to optimize absorption. The capsules can also be opened and the powder can be added to shakes and cold or hot drinks and can be used in savory and sweet dishes (e.g. smoothies, soups, stews and juices). The product has a neutral taste and contains 80 - 120 daily doses per product.
